What can I make from leftover carpet?
Entry mats, ranch-slider mats, bedside mats and hallway runners are practical uses for spare carpet. The available offcut size, backing condition and intended location determine what can be made.
A runner needs a suitable length and width of carpet. Text the size of your remnant and the finished runner size you would like before cutting it.
How do I get my offcuts made into mats?
- Keep your offcuts after the carpet installation and decide where each mat will go.
- Text photos, the available carpet sizes, your preferred finished sizes, the number of pieces and your suburb.
- We discuss a suitable edge finish, confirm the job and price, and arrange the next step directly.
Arrange a visit or drop-off before travelling. Do not assume collection or delivery is included.
Measuring a household mat or hallway runner
Measure the space and the carpet separately. Give length and width in centimetres or millimetres and label which measurements are the desired finished size. Check door clearance and whether furniture or corners affect the shape.
For curves or cut-outs, send a photo and a labelled sketch. Ask about a template before trimming a shaped piece.
Choose a finish for your carpet
Overlocking wraps yarn around the edge. Binding covers it with a strip of material. The carpet, shape and intended use help determine a suitable finish.
